Heartbreak has a profound effect on the lives of everyone who experiences it. Falling in love can teach feelings of happiness, but heartbreak also teaches that happiness in love cannot last.
Quite a few people find it difficult to recover from a broken heart. However, a study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General found that there are three most effective ways to get over a broken heart.
This method consists of reflecting negatively about your partner, reevaluating your feelings of love, and finding something to distract yourself.
3 ways to get rid of a broken heart
The researchers involved 24 participants, ranging in age from 20 to 37 years, and asked them to do so. Participants were asked to think about the bad things that made them hate their ex because the more you find uncomfortable things about them, the easier it is to forget about their love for them.
The second way is to reevaluate their feelings of love. The words "It doesn't matter that I still love people who are no longer with me." turned into letting go of this love to allow others to approach each other.
The third way is to find something to take your mind off your broken heart feeling. The researchers found that this method was also very effective in reducing participants' feelings of love and heartache.
Everyone likely reacts differently in every way, and each person has a specific way that allows them to get over their broken heart. However, these three methods are considered to be the most effective.
